Why did NASCAR shorten the Pennsylvania 500 by 100 miles?

And take away that much more time from my race-day excitement! Brian France needs to have his head examined I think.

Yes Pocono is usually known to be an incredibly boring race, but the first race this year was tonnes more exciting than in previous years, and I think it has to do that it's 100 miles shorter, so the drivers aren't just riding around for an extra 100 miles just biding their time.

And reason Pocono raceway is given 2 races a year is because, the family that owns that track, has always supported NASCAR even through the hardest of times, so NASCAR gives them 2 races a year out of appreciation for all that they have done for the sport.

To long and boring. What I think NASCAR should do is cut 1 of the races and then over the years, people and drivers will appreciate it more because it has a different shape (Triangle) than any other tracl on the Cup circuit. It would be kind of like Darlington or Phoenix.

Pocono races are a bit boring that said it's closest track to home so I hope it keeps it's two dates in the future. I also hope Indycar will return in 2013. The track was for Indycar in the first place.

The previous answers are correct. Pocono is, was and will be a boring race. I can't understand why that track still gets to have 2 races on the schedule.

They race twice at Pocono, so to have one race 400 miles means a different race because of different strategies.

Most complained it simply was a longer than necessary race, hence the 100 mile cut.

it's "too" long not "to"long, You see a trend here? It's the older people who complain. If Pocono is boring i'm sure the same people find other tracks boring "too". But in this case it sure seems like boring is synonymous with wimpy. Maybe someone is a little insecure. Next thing you know the Coca-cola 600 will be "too" long, and Fontana will be boring. Who knows, maybe NASCAR does need a half-time, so the drivers can take a break, so the competition isn't too hard on them.

  • Brian France did that to fix the race for Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr partner. it ties in with his plot to frame AJ whatcha callit for drug use

  • It's Pocono...need I say more??? Still too long. It's probably the most boring track in the circuit. Besides Jeff Gordon was complaining about it last year or the year before...and you know how the powers that be bow to anything Hendrick.
