Could be of various reasons. Perhaps is because your computer might be full of memory. It has happen many times to me when my internet gets freezing. You should check it out. Sometimes it also get stuck when there is low connection if you are connected to WIFI. I suggest that if you know anyone who knows about computers, ask the person - he/she might help you.

It could be due to your ISP but also IE isn't the best. Try resetting your IE back to default by opening IE then go to Tools and last tab (Advanced) and reset. Or even better try down loading Firefox or Google Chrome web browsers

I had exactly the same problem got the Virgin Media guy out to fix it in a second though. He replaced the modem and router and said it was because it was over 3 years old. Try replacing your modem and router.

get internet explorer 9, or, better still, get google chrome, its faster then internet explorer (both at launching and at opening websites) + you can get themes to make your browser truly yours and extensions like adblock to get rid of those annoying adverts.
hope i helped :).
