Poll: What is hay going for in your area?

Hay prices are ridiculous here, and wondering if they are the same elsewhere.

Please list State, size of bale, and price

Indiana- grass hay, 45 lb bales, $10- 12/bale

Update:

North Central Indiana. And a guy I know going to hay auctions said he has seen $14 for a small bale, and then nothing the next two weeks.

I am from Wisconsin originally and have hay contacts there yet- I am getting grass hay for $3 a bale, and it is actually cheaper to ship it 375 miles than to buy local hay.

I live in the Scottish Borders and it looks like our new season hay is going to be around £35-38 for a big round bale if we can get any. I'm taking a share of some Canadian hay that's being imported and won't be any cheaper but is guaranteed to arrive!

In Vermont you can buy 40lb square bales for $2-$3 (first cut grass hay) and $4-$5 (second cut grass hay). A 400lb round bale of good quality grass hay usually costs around $30-$40.

I am currently interning for a horse farm in Utah as well and they get a 75lb square bale (grass hay) for about $12-$14. Even though the bales weigh more I still think that's super expensive!

Coastal bermuda- 30-35 lb bales, $7-10. I'm in Texas, so we're definitely feeling the effects of last year's drought. We've had a decent year rain wise this year, so maybe next year it'll be a bit better. I buy local hay.

Michigan- Grass Hay, 50 lbs, $4-$8 per bale.

...And I thought we were bad...

Sounds like it isn't going so good with other states, right now my friends are having a hard time finding a 2nd cutting of hay.

    KY - grass mix - 35-40 lb - $4

Individuals sell for $2.50 but after years of bad experiences buying from idiots, I prefer to get mine through the boys I know at my Southern States... Peace of mind and good service is worth the extra couple bucks. Plus they give me free hay when I smile pretty. :)
