how long does 15 mg. morphine sulfate ir stay in the system?

i was prescribed 15 mg. morphine sulfate ir (instant release) to take 4 times a day for 2 weeks while going through physical therapy for a torn meniscus (in knee). sometimes, it took care of the pain and sometimes it did not. when my doc gave me a urine test, it did not show up at all. does anyone have any experience with taking morphine for legitimate pain? my doc told me it looked like i was not taking it as prescribed, but i was taking one 15 mg. pill every 4 hours, as she prescribed. so....can someone tell me what this amount of this drug is supposed to do, and why it wouldn't show up in a drug test. thank you.

It will show in drug tests for a couple of days. However, since you're taking it legitimately, by prescription, you can simply show the prescription to anyone doing a drug test and you'll be fine. The only exception would be something like working on safety-related things (driving, flying a plane, etc.), in which case you'd have to stop these activities until the drug was out of your system.

Opioids such as morphine are the gold standard for pain relief. They are very effective and widely used. They are safe when taken as prescribed. They do have side effects, such as constipation, but these can be controlled, and they are usually less disagreeable than being in pain. Opioids are habit-forming and produce dependence and tolerance, but in patients who are taking them legitimately for pain relief, problems with abuse and addiction are very rare.

So don't worry about drug tests, since you aren't using the morphine illegally. Take the medication as directed to stop your pain. Don't worry about turning into a drug addict—unless you're already the type of person who easily gets addicted to things, morphine for pain won't make you an addict. In some cases, you might feel flu-like symptoms when you stop taking the drug (withdrawal), but they are not dangerous and they pass after two or three days.

Yes you can. In the process of snorting on now. Suck the coating off and grind it down very fine. It's a very low dose so it won't kill you. Judgemental *** people.
