Olympic tennis - is it always on grass?

I'm sitting watching the Federer/del Potro match and wondering whether Olympic tennis is always on grass?

Can be any surface, but the logical option is to use Wimbledon instead of wasting money building a new arena.

No, this is the first time. Wimbledon is the only location which can host a major grass competition so that is why this is the first time for grass tennis at the olympics.

The courts always vary based on the city hosting the Olympics
