scholarship money question?

I was wondering about scholarships. Let's say one gets $15,000 in scholarship money but he lives at home instead of on campus and the tuition is $12,000...does the student keep the other $3,000 or forfiet it?

Well, it really depends on the college/uni. If the scholarship is $15,000, and you only need $12,000, then in most cases the extra won't be given to you. But I know at one the colleges in my area, you're given £500, a year, on top of tuition fees if you get the scholarship. This is obviously to be used on things like revision guides, and travel to and from the campus.

Scholarships are not free money, to do with as you please.

    Use it or lose it.
