Why will some disks not spin on my laptop???!!?

Of all the computer games I enjoy playing, Assassin's creed was the best - one day my laptop decided it didn't like the disk and alas, it would not spin.

I can live with this,

But,

today I was just looking forward to a nice evening watching my favorite movie, Trainspotting and guess what?

you guessed it, the shitting disk wouldn't spin.

You can take my life, but you will never take my Trainspotting.

Why is my laptop doing this?

Why will I now have to settle for Fight Club (for the third time this week)

Why?

Why??

WHY???

I know it isn't a problem with the disk itself as I have watched the movie and played the game disks on the very laptop itself.

top marks to anyone who can get me assassinating corrupted popes in renaissance Venice whilst injecting large amounts of heroin,

just like the good old days.
