I've got an opportunity to buy one of these in 9mm. Comes with a laser equipped guide rod. Anybody got any experiences with these, that they'de like to share?. I know it's old tech., but I might be able to get it cheap. Waddya think?

A little history...Taurus bought the manufacturing plant, dies, stamps, etc. in Brazil from Beretta for their ninety-two/M9. So the Taurus PT-92 is actually just a Beretta 92 using old castings. Beretta has since changed the design of the hammer, and a couple small things (trigger guard shape, etc.), so they are different, however the only upside to the Taurus is that it's $100-200 cheaper than a real Beretta. I myself have the actual Beretta model, and it's a great gun.

Some gurus do not forget the Taurus to be as excellent, or higher than it can be "krunchenticker" clone brother, the Beretta ninety two, but how some distance does that go when the U.S. Army are subsequently starting to admit the failings of the "Mighty 9" and, starting with precise Ops models, are watching elsewhere for a more serviceable weapon. If you're since a purchase order, you might be , for rather more money, buying higher first-class pistols, reminiscent of H-k, Glock, SIG, and even, as one gent acknowledged, the veteran Browning sample P-35 high-power.

The PT-92 is the only Taurus semi-auto that seems to be reliable. The polymer frame striker semi auto they make just don't seem to work worth a hoot. I've been to many gunshops, and they all have stories where customers have to avail themselves of Taurus' lifetime warrenty for repairs.
