Should the medal tally be ranked differently?
The way it works now it it only looks at how many gold your country has won, then separartes countries with the same number of gold by silver, then bronze.
This really isn't fair to countries that have a ton of silver medals, but one of two less Gold than countries with one bare any or even no silver.
For example Australia right now is sitting in rank #19 with 1 gold 10 silver 6 bronze. and the nexst 5 countries above us have only 1 or 2 silver medals, but because they have an extra gold they are considered "better".
Another thing I've seen is people counting the total number of medals, but that isn't fair to the people that have won gold.
I think it should be based on pounts, for example. Maybe 1 for a bronze, 2 or 3 for a silver, 4 or 5 for a gold (Just as long as Gold>Silver>Bronze), then the tally ranks the countries by the number of "points" each has. (This would mean china would probably be beating america now, as it should).
Do you think it's unfair that silver medals don't count for anything? How would you rank it if you could decide a system? (without just deciding what would make your preferred country best off).

A points system would be cool but I think the overall medal count is better too, and some of the strongest countries still go by it like America. I hate the idea that only gold's count in the ranking, if you want that as the case why have silver and bronze? Just give a trophy rather then gold medal to the one winner.

Who said silver medals are not important to the counting we use today? They ARE important! Because, if a contry has X gold medals and the other has X gold medals too, what will decide the "winner" is the number of silver medals! At the other hand, I think there are some sports, like swimming, with tons of medals, and other sports, like soccer, with just a few... I think THIS ISN'T right... Why can a swimmer take a lot of medals and a whole team take just one? Please, tell me!!

Why not just let every country tally the medals how they see fit. No matter what, people are going to whine if America wins medals so it's a no win situation.

Then mathematically challenged fans will complain. I say just flip-flop to whatever system that makes you happy. In your case, you should visit American websites. Americans don't do math, that's for sure. Better yet, create your own.

I agree. A points system is far better than the current and outdated system.
