I want to use it mainly for school and stuff but a little gaming as well.
What price should I be looking at? Should I get it?
"Gateway NV59 laptop that I think would be good for school as well as gaming. It is new and in good condition, and full working order. It runs windows 7, it has an Intel Core i3 CPU, and ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 HD Graphics, so it would be good for gaming. I have gotten games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 running on this computer at high graphics settings with no lag. You're rarely going to find a laptop with this kind of graphics card for a moderate price. It also has a built-in webcam and mic, a 16:9 HD LCD screen, and more. The battery life is fine. It lasts for a decent amount of time, and doesn't run out quickly. I'm looking to get $400 for this"

Gateway computers come with problems. The components can only be bought from Gateway, so you have to buy from them if your computer goes down.
They are pricey, and the cost does not stop at the purchase. It continues when they break down, as they inevitably do. They frequently crash, and you have to call Gateway to get help in getting them going again.
My sister had two, and she finally got tired of dealing with them and gave them away. The satisfaction with these machines for her was not there. She still feels as if she wasted her money.
If you want a reliable machine, go to another company and leave the Gateways behind.

If you're going to be using it for gaming as well then I recommend getting a laptop with atleast an i5 intel core processor, i7 if possible. Also, 4GB seems prettty low so if you want speed and don't want laggy games and the chance of not having enough storage for school- id go for a 6GB. Also, look at brands. A good affordable brand with the specs I've listed will most likely be with toshiba, dell, or HP. You might be able to find one for around 500 (especially with back to school sales) and trust me, it's worth puting the extra money into a laptop that will last.
