Curiosity is safely on Mars. Is this tax dollars well spent?

Update:

The dust covers are still on the lenses. They will jettison them shortly.

    Better than the olympics.

    But still, they could have put an HD video camera at least, this isnt 1998.

    2.5 billion worth? I bet the private sector could of added HD video cameras atleast. Seriously though, congrats to NASA on mission success.

    Why can't the Curiosity showboat and hoot and holler like the US Men's B-Ball team did with Nigeria? I'm dissapoint.

    If you look back just before the rover landed, one of the mission controllers name in front of his computer was "F** U"
