what makes osteosarcoma harder to treat than some other cancers?

    Sometimes it may strike in bones where removing the section of tumor and margin is just not feasible--such as in a spinal mass or in the hip or neck. If the osteosarcoma is located anywhere else they remove the affected section of bone and install a titanium spacer to replace the lost bone. Even in the spine it may be possible to remove and replace bone with cadaver grafts. I have heard of fairly successful treatment for this form of cancer, especially in kids.
