Putting change in concrete?

So I did a concrete pour today at my house and I threw some change into the concrete for luck and a good pour. My wife and the driver have never heard of this. Has anyone ever heard of this besides me and what state did you hear it in?

This is an ancient practice. In biblical times containers of coins were put in the walls of homes under construction. Today it's a major source of ancient coins in the middle east.

It's roots are pagan. An offering to the gods.

I've never heard of it. But I hope it works! What I did hear is if you put your name in the cement that you will live there forever.
