Respect for deciding to adopt a rescue dog :-).

Its never an easy decision to end a beloved pets life they are a part of the family.

If your dog is suffering then its always best (even though it does not feel like it at the time) to let your pet go.

Have you spoke to a vet to see if there is anything alse that can be done?

There are two problems here, the lameness and the incontinence. You need to talk again to the vet to see if anything can be done about each in turn, and be clearer about the reasons for each condition. Unfortunately, like many pedigree dogs, pugs have inherent health problems through poor breeding, and I think you will know when it feels the right thing to do to have her put to sleep. Ask yourself, 'would I like to go on living like that? ' and when the answer is No, then don't be selfish, just let her go.

Whats wrong with her legs? I have a dachshund that had two disc slip in her back near her hind legs and she was unable to walk. Took her to the vet and they referred me to a specialist that does back surgery on dogs. He told me that he didn't feel that him doing surgery would help her and i could try the medical approach with prednisone and depo shots. I ask him if he thought she would walk again and he sadly told me no. Saw no reason to put her to sleep just because she couldn't walk, she was still happy and not in pain, and i couldn't bring myself to do that unless she was.

We did the prednisone and the depo shots and i also did water treatment with her where i would hold her in a tub of water and make her use her legs to swim i also exercised her legs for her everyday several times a day. She now walks and runs again when they said she wouldn't, she may walk a lil different but she does walk and i couldn't be happier.

Is she happy, can she show that shes still enjoying life? The only reason to have to end it is if it is suffering, know what i mean? just give her lots of time and care

It was the hardest thing I've ever done with my cat.
