  • Is my cockatiel molting or has he caught his feathers?

Okay so I got Kiki in August and since then he has lost all of his tail feathers gradually they look ragged to me.

So just wondering if he is molting or has caught them on something? And is there anything that can speed up the re-growth of feathers?

My family have owned various birds over the years(mostly budgies) but this is new to us. Any helpful info would be great, cheers

  • Might be getting a used tank that is completely empty now.....?

Okay so two of my mates is selling a 4ft tank complete with stand and accessories and for the price they are asking its a BARGAIN which I'm going to see tomorrow to have a good look at it and get all dimensions.... Anyways I know its been used but completely empty now and has been dry for a period of time which I'm not sure of.... But how will I know if the seams will hold up(if I get it) when I fill it up? How long approx should a tank be 'dry' for before the seams dry out? I've heard somewhere that if a tank has been dried out for too long the tank won't hold. Usually I take my mate who knows fish and tanks but he may not be able to come along with me

Can anyone offer any advice? Or what I'm looking for when I go and have a look? Any help would be appreciated

  • Would fish survive approx 18 miles journey?

I have completely lost faith in my local pet shop that I get my tropical fish from.

So I am thinking of travelling to the nearest city to where I live to get some fish (they will also have more variety) but I was wondering if the fish would survive in the bags that they supply them in?

Carlisle is around 18 miles from where I live, 20 mins on train, around 45 mins on bus or 30 mins in car it would depend if I could get a friend to give me a lift through but it could very well be that I'll be going on the bus.

Would the fish survive the journey?

  • Found out some info that is really disturbing. What do I do? ?

Ok so long story short. So in Jan of this year my mate got a 13 week pup from another mate, the pup wasn't house trained or paper trained and within a week she was struggling with 3 other dogs and 4 kids so we agreed to take her on and see how it goes as we have our own dogs and cats.... Well things have gone well and to this day we still have her :-) but there is a few things that we were worried about ie wary of strangers (which my mate put it down to the fact that she came from a farm and she was like this when my mate had her) and always eating her food way too fast as though she thinks its her last meal or someone is going to take it away from her again behaviour that I witnessed when a friend had her I could go on.

Other than that she is a really good dog, she's affectionate, loyal etc.

Last night though from a work colleague found out that when my mates friend who I also know had her for a bit not sure for how long though found out that my dog was beaten like everyday, apparently she was aggressive(there's no bad bone in her body) and that she was locked up in a cage all the time and she was lucky if she was fed once a day I could go on at what I heard.

I was in tears, anger hit I'm actually dreading coming across this person again as I know that I will flip also heard that this woman has mistreated other dogs before.

Could I still report her even though its been months?

Is it worth losing my best mate if I say something to this other person that says she's a mate but withheld info from me?

Is there anything I can do? I'm torn

Or.... Should I try to forget what I have learned? I honestly do not know what to do

Sorry for rambling and thanks for reading

  • Tips on taming a 10 week old ferret?

Ok so I a free to good home 10 week old albino ferret from a friend of a friend and I was able to hold her yesterday, twice when I got her not that it matters but she's called Luna... Anyway when I got her they had her out and she seemed quite tame and tame enough to hold her when I then put her in the pet carrier the youngest child started tormenting her so she got quite agitated well before I got her home. Today she allowed me to stroke her for a little while then turned and nipped me on my finger.... Ouch, Luna drew blood.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips to get her used to me and be able to get her out of the cage as I don't want to end up being scared of getting bitten all the time where even the simpler tasks like feeding and cleaning cage out will freak me out.

I've never had a ferret before so any help will be appreciated

  • 400-500 litre tank stock?

Ok as I'm new to fish keeping I just wanted to check this as I'm worried.

My older sister has a tank which I believe is 400-500 litre and double filtered tank and this is her stock

    5xT-bar cichlids(family)

    1xAngelfish(the other died)

    2xbala sharks

    1xred tailed shark

    2xodessa barbs

    1xsome kind of eel

    3xfiremouths(just got and only babies)

1xher hubby says yellow bellied cichlid

I think that's it... I just want piece of mind that my sister hasn't overstocked and if she has I can talk to her about it

  • Stocking ideas for 120/130 litre tank?

Ok so I am getting a tank that is roughly between 120/130 litres tropical tank from a friend it already has some fish in which are---1xbetta, 2xneon tetras(she didn't listen when I said they like to shoal in larger groups), 1xcory, 2-3 mollies, 2xdwarf gouramis.. And I think that is it what are some good stocking ideas? I'm either going to put some of them like the tetras in my already established tank as I have tetras or re-home some as I already have a betta in the other tank and was hoping to have something different
