Greece: prophecied about hundreds of years in advance, did you know?

Alexander the Great from age 22-32 pritty much conquered the world, then he died of a disease going around at that time. 4 kingdoms were raised up after him but did not rule with the same power.

What the Bible said way before Alexander was even born?

In one vision, Daniel saw Greece depicted as a leopard with four wings, indicating that this empire would conquer swiftly. (Dan. 7:6) In another vision, Daniel described how a goat with

a prominent single horn quickly kills a two-horned ram, Medo-Persia. Jehovah told Daniel that the goat symbolized Greece and the large horn depicted one of its kings. Daniel further recorded that

the large horn would be broken and four smaller horns would grow in its place.

This horn was soon broken, though, the great king dying at the height of his power and at only 32 years of age. Then, his kingdom was eventually divided among four of his generals.—Read Daniel 8:20-22.

How acurate was that prophecy? It is as clear as water! And there are hundreds more just as big and clear that have came true, even in our time in the world power we live in, Great britian USA/League of Nations and United Nations.

Update:

Count Capeula - You were close, it was between the 6th and 5th Century B.C.E not the 4th B.C.E

536 B.C.E was when it was completed, so just over 2500 years ago.

Update 2:

Carlos K - Prophecys were written this way to sybolize how the events would come to be. That way people would not understand them until they had occured and then knew Jehovah was the only true God.

Update 3:

sectioned not stirred - You said yourself that Daniel lived before Alexander then said that Alexander lived before Daniel, I think you have confused yourself. The Higher number B.C.E the further in the past it was. E.g 1st century B.C.E is 2100 years ago, 5th Century B.C.E is 2500 years ago today.

Update 4:

Also the Quran was written 1400 years ago so whatever it said about alexander the great is irrelevant.

Update 5:

sectioned not stirred - No you are quite off. The book of Daniel was completed over 2500 years ago, 200 years before Alexanders time.

Update 6:

Even you link to wiki shows daniel lived before Alexander. look at the date at the side

Jehovah told Daniel that the goat symbolized Greece

Why didn't he just say "Greece", rather than babble about a goat?

Alexander is spoken of in the Qur'an aswell. Do you recommend i believe that?

Alexander lived in 356 BCE -323 BCE

Daniel was said to be born some time in the 7th century BCE and died in the 6th century BCE.

It wasn't a prophesy as Alexander's death had already happened and his kingdom was divided. This happened some 300 years prior to Daniel living.

No, quite simply put you are very wrong. When one looks back in history to BCE times you count backwards, not forwards. Thus 300BC is further back in time than 6th century BCE.

Daniel lived some 300 years after Alexander the Great. Simple understanding of chronological history in BC era would have saved you this small embarrassment.

That is why i used the Qur'an to show how silly what you have stated is. All it takes is understanding when you hit 0 on the time line you then count backwards. Thus Daniel is 6th century and Alexander the Great is 356 -323 BC He was born in 356, then died in 323BC it's counting backwards.

Though traditionally the book was believed to have been written by the Daniel figure of the court tales, around the year 536 BCE, today the scholarly consensus is generally that it is a product of Maccabean times. Though many evangelical commentators still defend a sixth century date, for mainstream scholarship the issue was settled over a century ago.[ The common view is that the court tales represent a stratum of older, traditional stories, while the visions and final redaction of the work date to the second century BCE. The visions describe the national crisis that occurred under Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a Seleucid king who attempted to introduce Hellenistic religious practices, including the worship of idols, into the temple and the Jewish religion more generally, sparking outrage from Biblical authors.

maybe the book of daniel foretold that in general, someone would conquer the east from the west. at that time, though, i think the whole world knew that persia was scared of greece and Phillip II had been planning the asian invasion for a lifetime. if daniel said that this would happen, then he was obviously there during that time. there is no real document remaining from 2500 years ago, and it only takes 1 lie from 1 prominent person to change what people think.

as for the q'uran, alexander is most definitely in it. he is portrayed by a name, Dhul Q'urain. the q'uran is even more specific about his existence than the book of daniel, as it accurately tells of how he destroyed the city of persepolis, built a wall around Gog and Mogue, and how he conquered the world until he died at the age of 33. get it right. he died at the age of 33. the bible or the book of daniel does not hint at the idea of alexander being a god, but other sources do.

i hate to break it to you but years after jesus's death, the church burned all records of paganism and attempted to destroy the hellenic cultures. the point is, daniel may have written something different and the church would definitely have changed it, in the way they changed the real bible depicting jesus's life to a book of thoughts gathered by a few italian popes hundreds of years after his death. there is no point in reading these books as they are mostly untrue, so whatever was said about alexander was something made up by the church. they most likely sought to make daniel a saint or whatever, by faking the idea of him knowing the future. all of this was in an effort to make alexander lower than christianity. at the time, many people believed that alexander was an immortal god and thought that he was the greatest hero of all time.

    1) What the Bible said way before Alexander was even born?

That is - of course - disputed. What we might call "Bible traditionalists" claim that it was written several hundred years before the birth of Alexander the Great. What we call "critical method Bible scholars" date that portion of Daniel (and many other portions) to **well after** the time of Alexander the Great.

Here's the problem: we don't have any copy (or even a fragment) of The Book of Daniel that is older than about 100 B.C.E. - that is, about 200 years after Alexander the Great. So: it's pretty difficult for scholars to **confidently** date the text before that date. Those who believe that book was written before the time of Alexander the Great believe that on faith in the accuracy of that Biblical book - not based on any evidence.

The Book of Daniel was written in the 2nd century BC. Everyone except for Christian fundamentalists have already accepted this fact.
