What war do they mean? 30 Seconds to Mars?

I LOVE their music so much. They are by far my favorite band.

But what war do they mean in This is War, Voc Populi, etc.? Do they mean stand up and fight to basic human rights, stand up against big govt., there are SO many possibilities. Can someone please clear this up? I'd love to consider myself Echelon but I'm not going to if I don't know what war we're fighting.

Don't worry about the main point of the echelon, bc it isn't exactly about having a mission. The echelon is the family and supporting group of Mars and the fans of Mars. We really are like a family, its hard to explain but we all understand each other. We don't immediate judge. We are living for ourselves the way we want. We aren't trying to be someone we are not. "This is who I really am." We don't judge like the rest of the world. Honestly, I love every single person of the echelon. They aren't trying to be someone they aren't. Thirty seconds to mars has taught us to go for our dreams and let no one in our way. They have taught us that the only person u are living for is yourself, it doesn't matter if u are rich, poor, fat, skinny, introvert, extrovert, theatre geek, or comic book enthusiast (I'm both;)) you should do what u wish and not be ashamed. Thirty Seconds To Mars hasn't come to my state the last couple of years, but I honestly just want to hug every single person I see walk thro that door. Lol, that's the kind of family we are. We understand bc most of the time, we have gone thro the same things as u or someone else in that room.

The war is with.....man, ourselves, society, etc. We are constantly striving to be more popular, skinnier, intelligent, etc just to fit into society's idea of normal and perfect. This Is War cd is basically saying hey I have had enough of this! I'm not going to pretend any longer. "I will never forget, I will never regret, I will live my life." We are sick and tired of it and we going to start freaking fighting back! I'm bringing out the soldiers, guns, and tanks to fight this war with ourselves and humanity. You can come fight with us or you can continue living your life miserably in a lie:) I know its kind of hard to decode bc they are so deep. Haha I am still finding out new hidden phrases in their stuff everyday. I have much much more to say and explain but i tried to give it shortish and sweet. *MarsHugs*

Source(s): I have been a fan for a couple of years now and they are by far my favorite band. I'm glad I have met another echelon. :) I know it might seem odd and kind of unfamilar (like you were a "stranger in a strange land" [pun intended]) but you will be able to understand it sooner than you think. You won't feel like a complete stranger once you get the feel of it. I was the same too for like the first few months. -TheKidFromMars

It's left open to interpretation so it can fit a situation in the life of anyone who hears it. It's just supposed to be very RELATABLE, and like 30stm are backing you up in whatever personal war you have. I also love this band and I have a tattoo of one of their symbols :)

They put the global warming thing in the video to seem hip, wise, heroic, admirable etc to the kids who watch it (to gain fans). The album is NOT about global warming. 30stm are good musicians but they're also rather ingenuine trend hoppers as you can observe looking over their history as a band.

If you watch This is War music video, you actually see that they are talking about global warming. :3
