Woman dies painlessly having tarry BM on cruise. Possible?

A healthy 60+ year old woman dies mysteriously after a couple of days of having tarry stool. She apparently had no pain or discomfort but was on a cruise and asked the doctor if she should do anything about the stool. He said no. Then she died. How can that be -- painless death?

a tarry stool is a sign of internal bleeding - so she must have had something else going on leading up to this

no way of investigating on a cruise - she needed a colonscopy / blood tests / further investigation

Yes its possible to be impacted BM where the stool is stuck and only a nurse/doctor may have to use gloves and lubrication to finger chucks of hardened stuck stool out so it will allow the stool to come out. For real Heather O'Rourke (December 27, 1975 – February 1, 1988) was an American child actress who played Carol Anne Freeling in the Poltergeist film trilogy and made several television guest appearances. O'Rourke also died there in 1988 of cardiac arrest due to medical error, but actually died during surgery to repair an acute bowel obstruction (which was impacted BM stool that if removed earlier then she would have lived) complicated by septic shock; this report was corroborated by the San Diego County coroner's office on February 3, two days after her death. Hope I helped and good luck
