test for divisibility by 27 ?

how to check whether a number is divisible by 27 ?????

Update:

example:- 36 is not divisible by 27

but (3+6) = 9 is divisible by both 3 and 9...

i think the best test is

Subtracting 8 times the last digit from the rest.

    Sum the digits in blocks of three from right to left. If the result is divisible by 27, then the number is divisible by 27.

    Subtract 8 times the last digit from the rest.

    A test for divisibility by 27 would be:

    - check for divisibility by 3

    - divide by 3

    - check for divisibility by 9

    Just perform the long division, or divide it by 3 then check for divisibility of 9. If that's too much work, here's a pdf I found on google that gives divisibility tests for 2 - 102.

    if the number is divisible is divisible by 3 and 9 its obviously divisible by 27

    for checking divisibilty by 3 add the digits like 135 => 1+3+5=9 which is divisible by 9 and it is also divisible by 3

    for 9 addition must be higher than 3,6 and must be multiple of 9

    27=3*3*3=9*3

    so if the no.is divisible by both 3 and 9 it will be divisible by 27.
