Is a shock absorber (vibration dampener) supposed to stay on a tennis racquet after a match or taken off?
Hi I just got a Head Youtek Speed Pro with Babolat Addiction 17 strings tension 60 lbs. With it I received a shock absorber. Should the shock absorber be taken off after every match because it might loosen the strings or is it okay to keep it on 24/7? Thanks.
Thank you, but please only tell me what you know, not what you think.

shock absorbers are meant to be kept on the racket all the time-like a replacement grip. almost all players keep it on the racket all the time and there is no way of an absorber hurting the strings-it is made specefically to absorb shock on a tennis racket and therefore is made to fit with your strings

It's up to you :-)
I don't believe the shock absorber can loosen the strings.
If you LIKE using shock absorbers, then leave it on, and think about what you can do to improve your game. You might get a couple of extra ones, in case it comes off and gets lost or broken.

I don't believe Federer uses it. If you might hit on the candy spot all the time, you may also now not want it. However for most of us which might leave out and hit on the brink which generate more vibration, it could be a good concept to have the dampener on. You could keep your elbow ultimately.

Just leave it on 24/7 until you need to restring the racquet. Then put it back on.
