Would it be kinda messed up to leave this job if I was able to find one I liked better?
I was hired at the fast food place Del Taco as a cashier and had my first day this monday. I was trained a little bit on the cash register, but I still dont feel too comfortable because the pace is kinda quick (They had be practice the register during the lunch rush) & I'm also somewhat quiet/shy. The manager said that I could let him know if I dont think I'm right for the job. They also want me to memorize all the combos on the menu too...
I actually cancelled a interview at walgreens last week, and I think that I should try to get that job again because it fits my personality better. I am quiet, laidback kind of guy and I am having doubts about this fast food job.
Of course I wouldn't quit the fast food job until I got another job,but...
Would it be rude to quit now after just one day of filling out paperwork and some training? Should I wait & quit in 2-4 weeks?

Why quit something before you've given it a chance. Work hard to overcome your admitted shyness.
Try one thing each day. Say "good morning" to every customer, etc. Ask the manager for suggestions and feedback. As you progress and get better you'll be more comfortable. Don't quit the job until you give it your best effort. Don't be a quitter.

I suggest you work a couple of weeks, grin and bare the job, until you receive a firm job offer from Walgreen's or another company. In these hard economic times, millions of talented, experienced and educated people out of work willing to take any job, your changes of securing another job will increase if you are employed. Good Luck!!
