Should I apply to highschools as hispanic or asian?
I'm a good student, with a 96% grade average, and I'm looking to get into good high schools. I'm half Japanese and half Cuban. The majority of students at the high schools i'm applying to are asian or white, but I also know that you might be excepted if you're hispanic because they want more hispanics/blacks in the school. If it makes a difference, my last name is Reyes, which is obviously a very hispanic name.
A lot of applications only allow you to check off one race when you're filling them out, so should I apply as hispanic or asian?

Hi, Isabel. If you are not accepted to a school because of your race, that is considered discrimination, and you could sue the school for this. Check off whichever one you feel most comfortable with. If they have an option for "other", that is the one that I would choose.

It would be a good idea to go with Hispanic, BUT I'm almost certain that you have to put all of your "races" on the application. It might help that you're part Hispanic but I'm not sure.

i agree with the other answer , if it discriminates on race , i would definely not go there ( im black ) but uhm if you have to check on off , check off either birracial/other or check off the race your dad is , thats how they determine your race (lol i know it sound dumb )

I'd go with latino since you look mostly Cuban in your pics.
Source(s): When you go overseas, however, I would apply as Chinese since there is a better chance of getting job.
