Is freemake video converter safe?

I've been using it since it came out a couple of years ago (along with another favorite converter, iWisoft's free converter). A lot of people at windowsmoviemakers.net have also been using it. A discussion came up a while back about the mysterious folders and no one seems to be having any problems with them. They also kind of made me suspicious but the folders are clean. They may be being used for temp files.

I hadn't noticed any of the mysterious "Do Not Delete" folders on my Windows 7 machine so I went looking for them and couldn't find any. I found the logs it keeps in Program Data but reading them is a bore because they are just very short activity logs for program feedback which I gave my permission to do. They've made changes so that now everyone can opt out of participating in the feedback program.

Also, a lot of people were creeped out by the fact that Freemake's owner, Ellora Assets, is a business registered in the Seychelles Islands and is owned and operated by Russians (tell that to the Kaspersky antivirus I'm running:-). But it's main offices are in LA and, as much as I hate the big city 25 miles west of us, I'm sure that not many Russian spy rings work a few miles from the LAPD's Parker center, the west coast"s main FBI office and the US attorney's office:-)

From what I read, the newer versions shouldn't be creating those folders - just like the version I downloaded in April didn't create them.

Is Freemake or download Video Converter nontoxic? HELL NO! OF direction no longer!! You don't EVEN be aware of WHAT it is AND NEITHER DO I! However at the least i know ample to ignore IT AND deal with IT just like the PLAGUE. Anything FREE OR UNEXPLAINED isn't reliable! There may be quite a few legit program that's now not EVEN dependable! WHAT MAKES YOU think anything "FREE" IS secure? WHAT'S incorrect WITH YOU!? Anything YOU GET OR advantage FROM via installing it is GONNA BE A giant EFFING HEADACHE AND way more PAINFUL TO eliminate than just PAYING a couple of bucks FOR WHAT you wish to have FROM ITS legitimate supply AND seller! You are a fool for even asking and might be this is simply the rough lesson you must learn that there is not any free lunch on the planet of software and malware -- so go ahead and install it and see what happens. But do not say i didn't warn you. Buh-Bye!
