Girls only!! Please help!!?
I'm thirteen, about to be fourteen, and I started my period in October two years ago. Luckily I have an irregular period, so it only comes once every two months. But sometimes it'll come for January but not February or March and come for April and May. And I never get any cramps. But I have a VERY heavy flow and it lasts for about 7-10 days. Sometimes when I walk around the mall for an hour I have to change my pad. I've never used a tampon before because it just scares me, but I'm tired of waking up and having my underwear soaked and having to change my sheets when I had TWO large pads. And whenever I walk around, I feel like I have crap in my pants. I want to try a tampon but I'm really scared people say it doesn't hurt, but it's uncomfortable, but I'm a huge baby! I have no idea what to do! Should I try one? And how do I even insert it? Would help me not feel like I'm going to leak? I have no clue!!

You're not a big baby, I was scared my first time too. There's nothing wrong with trying it out- you don't have to ever use it if you don't want to though.
Here's how to do it-
Get a small tampon with a plastic applicator, you can buy these yourself, no one is going to look twice about it
Calm yourself down as much as you can and take the tampon out of the case, there should be instructions either on the box or inside.
Crouch down or sit with your legs apart, whichever is most comfortable. Unwrap the tampon and look at how it works- use the tip to find the entrance to your vagina and poke upwards inside. It should slide fairly easier inside.
The tampon works with a little push on the handle while you grab the end of the applicator, like a little squirt gun. Push the tampon inside and throw away the applicator.
Practice makes perfect- the more you use something the easier it gets, and tampons are no exception.

You need to talk to your mom about this. It tells you how to insert the tampon on the box, but it can be tricky and every woman is individual and does things different ways. I know it's embarrassing but your mom should be the one to help you with this, or maybe an older sister or some older female in your life.
