Can dreams tell you things you never knew?
Like even something as simple as a person's name who walked past you in the grocery store or anywhere that you had never seen before in your life...My dad says he dreamt of his mother whom he never got a chance to see and two days later he was shown a picture of that same women from his dream...weird.

Yes that happens all the time, but only the very observant ones can see it. It is called deja vu, which is French for 'seen before.' You have seen it before, in a DREAM. The truth be known, our dreams are about the future and they show you the plans of your waking life. Not all dreams come true as you have seen them. Most of them are metaphors, figures of speech, likenesses.
We use metaphors all day long and don't even notice it. We understand them without any help or interpretation. When I say to you: "I have fallen in love!" will you say: "Did you hurt yourself when you FELL?" Of course not, because you understand what was meant. Dreams speak like that and everybody wonders what they are saying. Everybody says: "I had this weird dream!" But when in the daytime I say I have fallen in love, no one calls me a weirdo!!!

Apparently dreams are meaningless. Everything we see in our dreams, is stuff that we've seen before (random strangers, etc)
Your brain can't generate new things during sleep.
Dreams don't mean anything and can't foretell the future (maybe in some rare cases, which would just be chance)

It could and it might.
I remember I was playing a game and didn't know how to kill the boss. Then I had a dream about how to kill him. So yeah. It could.

Well, I guess it's possible? It's your subconscious mostly though.
