What was the trumpet theme played as the Olympic cauldron was extinguished?
A solo trumpet was playing, the ending was something like
f effc a gff
(spaces after a note indicating the note is held longer), with the e as the lowest note and the c as the highest less than an octave above it.
It's similar in style to the Fanfare For the Common man, but that doesn't seem to be it. You can see a poor quality video with the theme in question at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxjJDRlIGro , at least until it gets taken down.

It is the fanfare from 'Dances with Wolves' by John Barry. It's lovely! I have put a link to one of the YouTube videos with it on below...
