Online mechanical engineering degree?

Right now I'm in community college taking care of prerecs but I am going to transfer to an university when I am done. My question is, is getting a degree online equivalent to taking classes on campus or will future employers not taking me seriously because I got an online degree?

It would be pretty difficult to find a good online university, because a lot of them are for profit. Their sole interest is in making money rather than making sure you understand the material. In some cases, online universities tend to cost more than classroom universities, and if you're not able to pay off loans, it would be difficult to get government help.

From a financial stand-point, an online university isn't a good decision. If I was an employer, I probably wouldn't take you seriously if you have an online degree, but employers are different, so don't let my opinion be a deterrent.

There is only one ABET-accredited online Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering — offered by University of North Dakota. Even this degree is not fully online (students have to attend a few weeks of labs).
