United have more fans in Manchester than City do,?

according to a poll by property website Rightmove.co.uk.

Despite claims to be the city’s “true” club, only 14.8 per cent of Mancunians polled say they follow City, compared to 55.6 per cent who support United.

It confirms Utd are the Premier League’s best-supported club.

The Reds are even the third best-backed team in LONDON, with 13.2 per cent of footie fans in the capital cheering them on.

But fans of Wayne Rooney’s Utd live on average 95 miles from Old Trafford. Only Liverpool fans (100 miles) and Newcastle's (97 miles) live further away.

The club with most fans living locally is Wigan (65 per cent), property site Rightmove found.

Rightmove's Miles Shipside said: “'Our study shows that when a Premiership club plays at home, that isn't always the case for its fans.

"As major clubs like Manchester United have grown their national - and even international - fan base, the overall proportion of their fans who live within the same postcode as their home stadium has decreased. The growing fan base of the bigger clubs can even be at the expense of their rivals.”

I could've sworn that City were supposed to have more supporters than us, haha

Have you read the actual survey? And i don't mean quotes in a Rag newspaper i mean the physical survey itself? Didn't think so. Rightmove surveyed 13,000 fans. 13,000 and barely 9,500 were fans of Premier League teams.

How do you get a result that United have 55% of fans in Manchester when there are so many other factors to be taken into account, like imagine if hardly any City fan bothered to take part in the survey? There are over 500,000 people in Manchester and close to 3m in the Greater Manchester area. And you believe the 55% figure based off 9,500 peoples opinions? Stupid boy.

It also counteracts the poll done by the Manchester Evening News barely a few months ago which gave a different opinion and was based more on people voting online on their website. Around 4,000 took part, yet would you accept it as an accurate portrayal of the number of fans in Manchester? Didn't think so. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/...

In fact it was closer to 75% City 25% United in Manchester and that City had a majority overall. But then these polls are never based on actual studies or based on accountable facts and is just meant as a bit of fun. Aww, and you were so happy! Maybe you should take comfort in the 53,000 study that showed United had 659,000,000 fans.

There's no way of knowing if thats true. The Manchester evening news did a survey and found that most people in manchester support City. I guess every website or news paper find their own results.

  • The surge in City by the poll by the MEN found that many City supporters are now glory hunters and support them because they won the Prem and have the most money!

  • How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
  • But Man City are the better team.

We have more fans because we've been good longer. City's only been good for three years.
