How do people pay for over $1,000 dollars in crowdfunding websites?

I am a big fan of crowdfunding websites, though I am interested in the videos for each campaign and the perks they promise. Though this has been bugging me for a long while: There are perks that people have to pay over a thousand dollars for.

My question is that how is it possible for someone to pay over $1,000 dollars when it comes to crowdfunding. I'm sure it's something like with buying a car, you pay it in sequences, but I want to know how it works.

There is no way that anyone looking for funds, like free of charge without having to repay them, would offer perks worth more than what they collect. They have no money to start with, that's why they are using crowdfunding sites.
