How can the cycle of people wanting to live off the system be broken?

We need to do what is killing our country socially and financially. We need to SLASH entitlements. Entitlements is the biggest part of spending in this country.

In Victorian times they had things called workhouses. They were hell holes, but they did provide food and shelter and they did give the people something to do. They were also an incentive for youngsters to learn how to do something useful for fear that they would end up in workhouses themselves. But any solution that entails sheltered workshops sooner or later runs into conflicts with trade unions protecting their turf. I believe that is one reason why prisoners are not allowed to do overseen work on civic projects outside of prisons - although both they and the cities would like that to happen.

All that said, it is a cultural issue, and when people with a very strong work ethic can't find work themselves, now is the worst of all possible times to try to tackle a problem that has plagued society ever since both slavery and workhouses were abolished.

It really helps when you stop listening to the lies on FOX FAKE "News" and Lush Limbo. They're the ones who are preaching that POOR PEOPLE are eating up the country..... It's a lie told so you won't think about the brain-dead republican tax cuts for Billionaires.
