How do I clear my head? It's the reason I can't sleep!?

I've always had trouble sleeping, since I was about 8 years old. My mom always told me to clear my head and focus on my breathing, and I recently realized that I cant clear my head! I always have about 3 things going on at the same. Like when I try to focus on my breathing I have to visualize air coming in and out of my mouth, I see the words "inhale" and "exhale" on like an overlay of the visualization, and then I have to whisper the words outloud. And usually this doesnt work because I get distracted. It takes me HOURS to fall asleep. I also notice that I scrunch up my face when I'm trying to fall asleep because if I dont I open my eyes and look around the room.

I have mild ADD, and dysthymia. I can't get prescription sleeping medication because I'm only 15, and the natural stuff doesnt work for me.

How can I relax and clear my head?

I have been trying to get medication since I was 10, by the way.

    Don't try to stop the thoughts.

    Instead let the thoughts come into your head but, don't stop to think about them. Let your thoughts flow.

    It's when you stop and think about them, that's causing the problem.

    Try not to visualize while doing this.

    The blood includes iron that is magnetic. If you sleep along with your head pointing north the blood cells will likely be polarized closer to the highest of your head and you can be disoriented.     I have trouble falling asleep and one thing that helped me were videos on YouTube that you just listen to when tying to fall asleep. Z Quil might help too.
