What grade oil does a Honda varadero XL 125 2001 have.?

Hi I have a Honda Varadero XL125 2001. I'm chainging the oil and putting decent stuff in (castrol) I think it's 10w/30 but not to sure as don't have a manual. Can someone please help me out? Also does it matter if it's fully synthetic or semi? Thanks.

Honda actually recommends 10w/40 semi-synthetic, but you won't do any harm with 10w/30.

10W/40 semi synthetic motorcycle grade oil is the correct stuff for older Honda's. Don't try to be clever and stick the wrong grade in, or use car oil, because you could damage your engine.

I usually ran all the 4 stroke motorcycles I've owned on 10W/40, there's many types of oil for different temperatures; but here in the UK 10W/40 seems to be most common.

The great oil debate is endless, and no matter what I say, you can find those that will dispute it. What you're using is fine, as long as you change it often. Not until you hit extreme hot or cold temperatures should you think about altering. (Look on the back of oil, it has a little temperature guage and the weights that best work with it.)

Dinosaur vs Synthetic is another endless debate, but I've used both in the same machines and it has had no dramatic effect.

When in doubt, change your oil. Any clean oil is better than any dirty or none at all.

Source(s): I own too many vehicles to count, and they all run on whatever oil I've put in them this time. (It was probably on sale, whatever it was.) ======================================== This message brought to you by: Easy Bins Dumpster Rentals of Northern VA http://www.easy-bins.com/
