Firstly, snakes are not poisonous; they are venomous (poison is ingested, venom is injected). The Belcher's sea snake (Hydrophis Belcheri) is probably the most venomous, though testing is imperfect and we don't know for sure. The Beaked seasnake (Enhydrina schistosa) is another candidate. The Inland Tiapan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) is also cited regularly, but is probably only the most venomous land snake (the other two being sea snakes). Contrary to the previous post on here, the black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) is not the most venomous snake. It's not even close. The black mamba is, however, the second largest venomous snake, the fastest snake in the world, very aggressive (unlike the other snakes mentioned here), and still quite venomous (nearly 100% mortality without antivenom). Thus, the black mamba is very often considered the most dangerous snake in the world (probably correctly), but is not the most venomous.

Inland Taipan is the most poisonous, but not the most dangerous. The Inland Taipan likes to run from trouble rather than attack it.

there is no such thing as a poisonous snake although the black mamba would be the most VENOMOUS
