how can i stop receiving friend requests on yahoo messenger?
i have tried going to preferences -> ignore anyone who is not is my yahoo contacts
it doesn't work. i still receive add requests. is there anything else i can do?

You cannot stop people from requesting to be your friend, but you CAN stop the same people from coming back again and again.
Just fill in the box at the bottom of each invite that says you don't want to be bothered with that person again and follow the 2 prompts that come behind that one. I know it's a pain in the behind, but you spend 20 seconds one time and never have to deal with the jerk again.
Also, you must NEVER open spam mail, ever.
