Can anyone explain the mindset of todays youth, who are unable to?
comprehend that anyone can still be working for 50 years, and have had various careers.
Do they believe that they can sit on their bums taking taxpayers money until retirement.
UK
Q is nothing to do with not being able to get a job, which these days is difficult, but certain posters who are unable to understand that someone can still be in continuous work for 50 years and have experience. They need to look outside the box, and not post inane comments and character assassination.
MAD MAX. you are deluded. The YOI I work in 4 days a month employs 2 Invigilators for their exams, my self and another lady of 66. She has been employed there for 8 years, myself for 4. You have stated previously that I mark exams, Invigilators do no such thing. We are employed because we have commonsense and life experience. Still awaiting an apology for your character assassination because you are too ignorant to understand that people can have a long working life with several careers. When did your Grandparents or Parents retire. Did they stay in the same jobs for 50 years.

If you are so very clever and work for the criminal justice system you would realise that Young Offenders have to take exams in English, Maths etc as part of their sentence, (DOT) they also take GCSEs and A levels. Education staff are not allowed to oversee the exams which is why Invigilators are appointed in all education establishments in the UK. I just happen to be appointed by HMP after vigorous checks.
Apologies for double entry but Yahoo posted it twice. Now is there anything else you want to add before I close this down.

I started work aged 15 had 5 jobs and one main career lasting 34 years - retiring aged 55 with a fat pension. So yes you are right and i know lots of people who have had several jobs and thus vast experience in life. I answer all my questions on YA and all are based on experience. I would challenge anybody to question my credentials, happily.
But I do also have 4 grandchildren aged between 10 and 16 (another experience) and I can assure you they are all there and back, with ambition, respect and all the qualities required to lead a decent life.
the problem is, you get some people who say things on websites etc because they know they will not see you face to face - a form of false bravado. If you want to see good examples of this read the comments on YouTube - mental cases ares us ??
I dont know you - you dont know me, but you can sense by the wording used how a person is coming across and as far as I am concerned your integrity is not in question. Let the cowardly numptys lavish in their own ego.
EDit Mad Max > what a load of hogwash. You prove my point.

One wonders if your question and thinking are not coloured by your own background. I have two children both of whom know and appreciate that they will have to work once they have completed their education. To that end they are both thinking hard about what they will do in their various examinations and what kind of jobs would suit them/give them most enjoyment.
My daughters are not the odd ones out, all of their friends are in a similar position and work hard to make a success of themselves in their exams and in life generally. My oldest child even went as far as to write a script with some friends for a comedy. They used the script to put on a show and raise £800 for children in need.
Perhaps the question you should be asking is why so many adults and the media portray today's youth in such a bad light, highlighting only the bad minority and ignoring the good majority?

If they sat on their bums for 50yrs then they wont have had a job to retire from will they?
Why are you blaming the youth of today for this country's ills?
Today's youth find it very difficult to find employment, one answer to this problem would be to lower retirement age to say 55.
Before you start saying the country cant afford this, it is far cheaper to pay a state pension to someone that age than pay an unemployed young person with a few children all the benefits that go with their circumstances, many manual workers are knackered by the time they are 55 and should be given the opportunity to enjoy a rest from work for what time they may have left to live.
This will then open the job market for our younger generation.

That's a very sweeping generalisation about a whole generation right there and 1 you are wrong about! All older people do this, put the youth down when actually they aren't all bad some of them really do want to work but you try finding a job now a days when you've got no work experience cause you're young its damn near IMPOSSIBLE!!!! I have plenty of young friends who work! My sister is 16 n she works, all my brothers work and they are 18, 19 and 21 so do all my mates. I'm currently on the doll, in the past month I've applied for at least 20 jobs, apart from 3 or so no employer has got back to me, does this make me scummy youth cause I'm not working!
Not all of the youth wants to benefit scrounge forever, just a few idiots making the rest of us look bad.

Your post says it all.
Lack of 'any' effort - absolutely no 'savvy' at all - unable to function on a reasonable/acceptable level on there own....the list is endless - as these employers have been saying for the last 20yrs+.!!
When a young person goes through the education system - and gains absolutely nothing from that system over the years....the fault lies totally with them. Its no good continually blaming the teachers - there up against a 'brick wall' of none compliance - bad attitudes - and a mindset of 'couldn't-careless' from a huge % of youth in education.
The % of youth that 'do get' a reward from their effort in education is the much lower % - coming from families who 'expect/demand' a reasonable result/effort from their kids - the failures are....like mother....like father attitudes that 'they' had when in 'their' education years.
Technology gizmo's have destroyed any interest/intentions the youth may have had too be more progressive/productive/responsible in their lives. They 'do believe' they can sit-on-their-bums and make no effort during their lifetimes.
The youth saw a long time ago the 'benefits of a nanny state' (which we have had for the last 35yrs+) and their mindset being....why should I bother - when everything will be done for me via claims I can make from the system....no matter they contribute absolutely nothing - 'thats' where this modern day youth mindset has come from.
Whilst all 'cannot be tarred' with the same brush (that wouldn't be fair) - the above applies too the vast majority of the youth in education.

Why are you picking on today's youth? There are a lot of people who cannot be described as "youth" who do exactly the same thing. At least the "youth" have the excuse of not being able to get on the first rung of the employment ladder because of inexperience. It looks like you've been reading the Daily Mail again.
Character assassination? Like you tried to do to a whole generation. By the way I've just retired after 50 years continuous employment, and from what I can see the youth of today are not all that bad.

confirmation bias is habitual characteristic of an untrained recommendations, the subject is compounded via the fact that quite a few falsehood has crept into Islam via fake and fabricated comments wrongly ascribed to the Prophet Pbuh and declared Sahih. for this reason the consequent shaky base information contributes in the direction of fixation on the falsehood or rather much less significant component of Deen.

As someone else has indicated , a significant number of children are now bought up from a very early age , in homes where they basically get what they demand, and are allowed to do what they want. They learn no discipline and realise that they can simply ignore threats.
In school this learn ed behaviour continues and they simply opt out. They don't see why they should have to do anything that they don't want to -- concentration , effort and application rapidly becomes completely alien to them.
But the real tragedy is that they contaminate and spoil the chances of all the children round them.
To be honest , I would happily give lethal injections to many of them , in order to give the rest a chance, and save all of us a lot of misery.

Youth at any time in history are barely able to comprehend the possibility of living for 50 years. They're no different today in that respect.
Older people at all times in history tend lash out at the shallow attitudes of youth, so you are no different either.
Calm down.

Starlin & Hitler both used fluoride on its people to dumb them down.
Fluoride is being used on we the people and the youth are more susceptible to this poison....
