Why was the Book of Enoch removed from the bible?

You can't tell me he wasn't divinely inspired because he is one of two men who didn't die a natural death. Out of most men in the bible he had to have been one of the few people inspired by the divine....

Enoch was never in the bible to be removed. Like the story of Lilith, Adam's first wife (before Eve). Never in the Bible in the first place, but existed outside contemporanously.

The Old Testament canon is made up of books generally accepted by the Jewish faith. Such a book as this is considered Apocrypha and not canonized by anyone.

It does seem to "jive" with some traditional Jewish positions on the flood....but the book has some issues as to whether it is authentic or not.

The position of the book differs from many Christians in terms of position as to the need for the flood. (Most do not subscribe to the idea that the angels had children with human women). The position of the text is however not considered to be heresy, and while it is not the majority opinion amongst Christians, it is usually considered as one of the possibilities.

EDIT: Many Christians interrupt those verses in Genesis to mean something other than angels. I tend to agree with you on that, but I hold no firm position as to it.

It does open up a can of worms though.....if angels could impregnate women then they have sex organs, lust, and all the rest....which leads to the question as to why and a host of questions that cause some difficulties in reasoning. I am not sure we should go down that road of logic in the position because the evidence is to weak as to create a concept of angels from it....but again I do agree that is the most likely answer in my opinion (only my opinion....Calvin seriously disagreed with me in his commentary....and he is obviously a far better man than I am to speak on such things....I just have some problems with his answer on this particular subject.)

A lot of the books that were in the bible got taken out mostly for political reasons or because they were too odd to be believable. The book of Enoch is one of those that really isn't believeable so the church took it out in hopes of getting more people to believe and therefore get more money.

The book that some people claim is the book of Enoch was probably not written by Enoch; what he wrote is probably the first part of Genesis.

It was never part of the Bible.

It is a two thousand year old fantasy book --

the ancient Jewish version of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians"

it was never part of teh bible ! it was given heretical abscription because it spoke against homosexuality.

it was rewritten without the referense to homosexuality.

maybe because there are 200 ft tall angels described within its contents, maybe because it exposed the kind of evil that existed in Rome and would ultimately condemn the catholic church itself.
