Droid dies trying to get reception?

When I am at work, my HTC incredible 2 from Verizon trys so hard to find reception. The 3G always says 1X.

I charge my phone to 100% before work and I never use it at all during work. At the end of my shift my phone is almost dead.

Since verizon does not cover many spots, especially the location of my work, is there a way to turn off just the 3G and not the cell reception? I dont want to put my phone on airplane mode. I still want to receive text and calls.

There is a full guide available how to turn off 3g and keep the phone reception open. I recently read a article on a site about it. Probably you can google it and can know the tutorial how to do it and yes you can recieve texts and calls, you just cant use other options like internet and so on it while the 3G is off.

This happens a lot in places with low reception. While Verizon is by a large margin the top cell phone company in America, they can't reach everywhere. With that said, there should be an option in Wireless settings or Mobile Network menu that you can use to turn off your data connection. This is either simply called Mobile Data or something similar or could be something more obscure like "packet data", as on mine (Samsung Galaxy S3)

You can probably just google "how to turn off wireless data on incredible 2" and find your answer.
