question about sertraline/zoloft?
im 21 and have been prescribed 50mg sertraline tablets because of depression,low self esteem social anxiety and avoiding anything to do with leaving my house but im scared of taking them incase they make me feel worse, ive read things about them (mainly bad) but i desperately want to gain control of my life again but after hearing things about them it sounds i could lose even more control! do they give you confidence? what do they actually make you feel? will they help with paranoia or make it worse?

Sorry you've been feeling depressed. I'm on Sertraline and it's fine. I asked my doctor to give me something that wouldn't affect me too strongly. And I find Sertraline is really good. It's not a drastic difference but I don't feel like the tablets are masking my feelings. I don't feel depressed any more but it's not a false feeling. I think it will be helpful for you - 50mg isn't a big dose so I'm sure that you will be okay. Give it a try, hopefully it will do you more good than harm, and I always find it's best not to focus too much on things you've heard.

I take the same medicine (zoloft) and for the same reasons; social anxiety, depression and low self esteem. I've been taking since 1 month, and there was no change. And then I started taking two tablets of zoloft, and then I started becoming more depressed, and sad. It can be bad, but not for everyone, you can try taking it for one month, if it helps you, it's a good sign, and if not, stop taking it
