It's been too many years away from working with algebra to give you the algebraic formula, but I came up with the answer using logic and basic math skills in under a minute:

    8 quarters = $2

    80 dimes = $8

    88*2 = 176

    176 + 24 = 200

    200 nickels = $10

    $2 + $8 + $10 = $20
