do u think starting an acting career in new york would be better than Los Angeles?

i really wanna act, i know its not an easy career to get into but the reason why i ask is because from what it feels likes to get all the training and experience new york seems like it be the place its home to broadway the actor's studio, i'm sure there is alot of great work acting workshops there, many of the greatest actors such as deniro and pacino came from new york alot of great movies have been shot there. when i mean i want to be an actor, i want to be a real actor, i love acting more than anything, i don't care about being a big movie star. I understand L.A. is the place to be in the movies and i would love to act in movies but when i compare NY and LA on acting it just seems to me like L.A. is just focused on the whole glamorous, commercial hot shot side of acting where everyone who lives has the same dream alot of money and the only people who have a strong shot in making are the ones based on looks than talent. I don't want to be a part of that egotistical enviroment. It seems to me that new york is the place where the working actors the ones who have alot of passion for acting as an art and aren't just looking for the money and fame. what do you think?

With all due respect, your mindset is based purely on stereotypes. It depends on what you want to pursue in. LA specializes in on-camera projects such as film, TV, and commercials. NY specializes in theater. However, if you want to pursue in both, choose the one you are more passionate about and move to the according location. There are projects of either kind in both places, but it is important to remember they are two separate worlds with different training, methods, and representation. You are going to have to deal with egotistical people everywhere you go, whether you want to be in film, theater, or insurance sales. LA may seem like all about the glamour with all of the reality shows and everything, but it is as tough and talent-based as NY. You will also have to work yourself up from the bottom in either place, serving as a rebuttal to many people's visions that LA's all about the movie star crowd and NY's all about Broadway. As long as you love what you are doing and are genuine, people will notice that and you will be able to survive the egomaniacs and meet some really great people. This applies to wherever you go.

P.S.: You'll find that the money is pretty important if you want to pay off your expenses. But don't let that become your single driving force. Good luck!

L.A. is going to be the better choice simply because it's pretty much the mecca. Everyone relocates to L.A., even those who are living in or are originally from NY.

You might not like the environment but the reality is, if you're serious about acting, L.A. is going to be your destination. If you can't get past trivial matters such it being a glamorous place and where everyone there has the same dream, how can you realistically expect to pursue acting?

The coast means little if you can't move past bullshit excuses like the ones you've explained. Get real and suck it up. Go to L.A. or don't have a career, your choice.

It relies. If you're interested within the level (also referred to as the legit theater), then it can be excellent to take a look at your success in New York. If you're eager about appearing in films and tv, then coming to LA could also be your excellent guess. You will have to be mindful that it is rather tough to make it as a reliable actor. Many folks attempt to pursue this profession, however only a few are victorious. Many folks that experience a university measure in theater arts finish up educating drama in top tuition. The general rule of thumb is that LA is for Screen, NY is for theater.

Any actor who says they aren't looking for money is a moron. Be honest with yourself. Why would you bother pursuing a career in anything if you weren't getting paid for it? That's retarded.

I wouldn't pursue a career in brain surgery if I didn't want the huge pay cheque that comes with it!

    Stop kidding yourself.
