DS: Collars and ID tags?
Question...or poll I guess. Not sure what this would be considered. But just wanted to ask other dog owners.
What type of collar does your dog wear? Do you have a different collar for walking-If so, what type do you use?
What do you think should be included on a dog's ID tag? The dog's name+Address+Phone number or Just dog's name+Phone number or something else?

None of my dogs wear a collar unless we are doing some bite work. All of them will wear an E collar when training, otherwise, nothing. No tags on any of them, I hate the way they sound when they jingle, but, here is something that you need and should do to help you get your dog back if it gets lost.
On its tag, put your phone number down on one side and on the others, put down "Needs daily medications, please call immediately"..Most people don't want to keep a dog that is sick and needs meds, no matter who cute, so, they will call and sound like good Samaritans.

My youngest, Sophie, is the only one that wears a collar full time (with the exception of when she's in the pasture). This is so she can easily be taken out on a leash. It's a nylon collar, thick and very nice, and is purple. This is the only collar she wears.
My Aussie mix and my Lab mix both wear martingale collars from Lupine; they are also nylon. They only wear them when we go on walks, or to the vet. My Lab mix wears the martingale because her neck is larger than her head (just the way she's put together) and she often slipped her collar, even when she wasn't meaning to - whenever she'd start to slow down on walks due to her hips the collar would come off. The Aussie wears one because she needed a new collar and it was just easier to buy her the same style at the time as she only wears it on walks anyway.
My Sheltie mainly wears a blue harness when he goes on walks. This is due to the fact that his fur is too thick for a flat collar, and after many attmepts to find a rolled collar that fit him properly, I gave up and just gave him a hand-me-down harness (originally bought for the lab before the martingale) that works fine.
NONE of my dogs have ID tags; we don't have much use in the country as they don't run off and I dislike the jingle they make along with the rabies tag. I think that the dog's name + address + phone number, if it fits, is ideal.

My dog has a rather thick neck and where I live it's hard to come by a collar that will fit him perfectly, so when a collar long enough to go around his neck comfortably comes around I get it no matter the style. So when a collar does come into the store thats the right size I usually get two because they go fast and it's best to have an extra collar.
At the moment he is wearing studded brown leather collar that's lasted a year. As for ID tags he has two of them on his collar just in case one somehow falls off, plus he has his register tags which are changed every six months. He also has a microchip. The tags have the dogs name on them plus my dads mobile number [He has his mobile on him at all times because of his work].
My dog doesnt have different collars, just one collar for all uses.

My dog never wears a collar inside the house because I hate the noise the tags make. On walks he either wears a martingale collar or a flat nylon collar. His tags have his name and my home phone number. He also has a rabies tag on there as well.

No collars on inside the home since the time when one dog had a neck injury and got out of the habit of putting them on. It is not a problem as both Dobermans are trained to go to a set place when I open the front door or kept safely on the other side of a locked door if an item is being delivered.
For exercise my dog has a strong one inch sturdy backup collar with the pinch or a three inch wide flat leather buckle collar. My b*tch has a neck tech collar and thin flat leather backup and a martingale collar.
For my b*tch I include my family name, address, phone number, spayed and tattoo number as it is a bit faded but she could still be identified by breed, gender, coat color and partial number and the dog, family name, address and phone number.

Well with my dog she only has one collar for everything. She has a microchip but she also has a tag stating her name and the home phone number; My mum also recently put one of those Bag tag things on her collar (the ones in the hard clear plastic that you clip onto luggage) because she managed to do a runner, it has back up contact information and it has the fact that she has allergies.
I don't usually take her collar off at home because it doesn't bother her and it doesnt cause any fur loss. The only time I take it off her is when I groom her (so brush and comb her and give her a bath). She also has rego tags which is kinda the law in my area for dogs (but not many listen to that)

When inside my Siberian Husky wears just the regular flat nylon collar. Whenever I take her out she always wears a choke chain. The dogs name, phone number, and address are all included on my dogs ID tag. She also has a dog license tag ,microchip, and lastly an ear tattoo, better safe then sorry(:

My dogs have either leather or nylon collars, and I put my last name and phone number on their tags (as well as being microchipped).
I don't see any reason anyone else needs to know the dog's name.
For walking I use harnesses with my small dogs. I use a slip collar with my coonhound mix, and a slip collar and e-collar with my Lab mix (who used to pull and be dog aggressive).

My dogs were a nylon collar, just a simple comfortable collar. My boy has a blue one and my girl has a pink on. They have matching leashes for walks. They wear them 24/7.
They wear their rabies tag, pet license tag (in my city we have to license our dogs), and an ID tag with phone number, name, and address.
We are also looking to get them micro-chipped in case they get out and loose their collars.

My dogs run naked at home. For walking they wear a buckle collar. The ID tag just has my name, landline and cell phone on. My ID tags have gone through several different dogs.
