Is it ok to place a cooked and still warm chicken in the fridge.?

I had until recently been under the impression that this was a bad idea. Im now informed that it's fine to do so but that it raises the overall fridge temp.

That's fine. Bacterial grows well within a certain temperature band of about 41F to 140F. There are two potential dangers to worry about.:

    1. The hot chicken will warm up nearby things in the fridge, bringing them above 41F.

    2. As the chicken goes from about 140 to below 41F, it will spend too long in the danger band. How long is too dangerous depends on what the food is. Raw chicken can become rapidly dangerous. Cooked chicken will be fine in the time it takes to go from hot to cold. It can safely sit for an hour. So, put the hot chicken on the counter for 15 minutes to cool if it is straight out of the oven, then stick it in the fridge to finish cooling.

Try not to put other foods right next to it.

Exactly, it raises the overall fridge temp so everything is now not being held at the temp it needs to be causing the bacteria to multiply. really good way of getting food poisoning,
