Would this have happened in a "Gun Free" zone?

http://www.wokv.com/news/news/local/customer-shoot...

A man was doing some late-night shopping at the Dollar General store on Dunn Avenue (Jacksonville, FL) when all of the sudden, two men stormed in and tried robbing it.

Unfortunately for one of them, the man happens to have a concealed weapons permit, and Lt. Rob Schoonover with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the man wasted no time springing into action.

"There was a citizen who had a concealed firearms permit that was inside the store as a customer," says Lt. Schoonover. "He fired at the suspect, striking him and killing him."

Update:

Hey Mr Puta.. Jane .. paul grass obsessed P.O.S.

You know where I live? Cool.. what are you waiting for? I'm here.. still waiting? Or.. are you just one bigPUSSY who feel's "manlike" typing behind your sticky computer screen?

Update 2:

You want to come see me? Fine.. Consider this article very Ironic then.

Update 3:

Oh.. you're only about a thousand miles off dumbass.

You do know the penalty for armed robbery isn't death right?

There is another point here, and I don't think you'll be seeing a story on this.

Its not easy to take another persons life, even when it happens to cops, who could logically expect something along those line, the cops are given psychological support, in war where again taking of a life is expected, the results are often stress disorders. How much is the civilian going to suffer when the realty hits that they have taken a life?

I don't have any pity for the robber, don't get me wrong, but there are more considerations here that the knee jerk response of hurray another one down.

Since people do carry in gun free zones its entirely possible it would have happened anyway.

I don't understand why people who feel the need to carry a weapon don't just carry their freakin' weapon. Legal or not, if it ends up getting used in a justified manner, some sort of public outcry would likely throw out any charges of illegally carrying a weapon. If you're so worried about your safety that you need deadly protection on you, then by all means protect yourself. Why would you need the legality of it just to say it's okay when you're in fear for your life?

You speed on the road don't you? Just carry the damn gun and STFU.

Yes there are occasional stories like this where it works out...and for every one like this there are dozens (if not hundreds) where two idiots carrying guns decide to draw down on each other and innocent bystanders get caught in the crossfire.

I also have a conceal carry permit and in the state I live in, a very conservative state, if that had happened as you describe the man with the permit would be charged with at least manslaughter. My conceal carry permit does not give me the right to fire at someone without there being a direct harm to myself.

I have no idea why people are so happy about this story. Robbery is not punishable with death. Yes, the actions of both potential robbers were stupid and they should definitely be in jail, but death is an inappropriate punishment. You people, the ones who are happy about such an extreme punishment, need to look inside yourselves.

Nope and thank God that Patriot was there

The other robber ended up getting away -- he is described by police as a black male about 6 feet tall and wearing a blue bandana. He drove off in a small SUV.

Another of Obama's supporters so one less vote for Obama

Nop. And it shouldn't happen anywhere. A poor man was killed just because of a stupid action! That man who shot the other man should be thrown in jail for the rest of his life. He's evil. Guns kill people and are racists.

It is still immoral to kill over money.
