Rape & Pregnancy Rate Question?

I did a straight statistical analysis of the chances of a rape yielding a pregnancy and came up with 1.5 per thousand or .015%. Yet the CDC and other medical sources indicate it is more like 5%. Does anyone know how to account for this 33 to one discrepancy? I have heard that rapists have some magical radar that leads them to women that are extremely fertile. I have heard that the excitement in the rapist mind must trigger some kind of amazing semen that in turn triggers a women to ovulate. These all sound so irrational. Any ideas?

Update:

Nerdy: Thanks for the answer, but abortion was not in the equation & had no effect on the analysis.

Update 2:

Ernie: I agree, that was why I said that seemed irrational to me.

    Well here's my guess.

On average it takes a happy healthy woman around 5 months to get pregnant. So at 3 couplings a week, 4.3 weeks per month, that's 5x4.3x3 = 64 couplings per conception or 1.5% IF things are good. Which is about 3x lower than the CDC.

Of course, as a rule, stress tends to interfere with most biological functions, maybe not to the degree Akin's friends would speculate, but in general.

So if intense stress were to say cut the odds by 2/3, then the conception rate for traumatic sex would be about 0.5% about 10 times lower than the CDC #.

Now there are several things that could explain the difference, ranging from politics to dark evolution.

1.) Politically the CDC could be dealing with misreporting. Like some women only reporting rapes when they wind up pregnant or after multiple couplings in an abuse situation, or this is the 20th time I've been raped after repeatedly getting drunk at frat parties.

    2) The Radar option is not that 'magical'. Men are already attracted to that youthful glow that implies fertility, if you could 'have' anyone you wanted, who would you pick? Additionally while humans do not mate in season, we are in fact descended from animals who did. It is entirely possible that a man who's primal aggressions incline him to rape, might also retain atavistic sensory mechanism to detect phenomal fertility markers. If women in proximity synchronize their periods, humans must retain the ability to detect fertility cycles.

    3) And the REALLY dark possibility is that in our biological history 'rape' may have been the norm, rather than the aberration. I.e. like many other mammals, the female goes into heat & basically gets gang banged by every male who can get to her.

Darwinistically speaking this would make sexual trauma a Trigger for, rather than a Suppression of, conception.

In other words traumatic sex just might significantly increase a woman's odds of conception.

Now wouldn't you like to see Obama make THAT public service announcement at the DNC.

"Akin is dead wrong. Everyone knows a good b 1tch slapping makes it easier to conceive. And now I'd like to introduce Sandra Fluke to tell you why Catholics owe her Birth control pills."

interior the seventeenth century, it became believed that a woman could not get pregnant till she had an orgasm! So women persons who have been pregnant and claimed to have been raped weren't believed, via fact of course they enjoyed it. it incredibly is in basic terms surprising how annoying those 'city legends' die. each guy who rapes a woman needs to have self assurance she secretly enjoyed it. interior the U. S., greater desirable than 30,000 toddlers are born each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days who're the fabricated from rape. So it became a incredibly stupid element to declare. every person may well be incorrect, I recommend I even nonetheless i became incorrect as quickly as (yet i became wrong!) yet once you communicate in public lots, it may not be a foul concept to make sure issues out earlier you assert them, so which you do not make your self look silly. having mentioned that, Akin is a Tea celebration well-liked, so data do not rely to him almost as much as though he became working for Congress interior the real worldwide.

they are different because you might not have included the fact that if someone has an abortion, they still where pregnant.
