Airdrie United FC, who ended 4th in their respective league-table in the 2011/2012 Scottish Second Division, and made it to the play-off final, which they lost, were still promoted to the SPL, because of Rangers' demise. Stranraer FC ended 3rd in the 2011/2012 Scottish Third Division league-table, also made it to the final of the relegation/promotion play-offs and also ended up losing. Just to correct you VinRoo.. rangers were not 'demoted' into league 3.. the club formerly known as rangers fc, were liquidated.. a new company was set up which were accepted into the SFL 4th tier of football.. as was said previously, they are lucky they were taken by the hand into that league.. others who have been trying for years were bypassed.

there has been such a hoo haa about the Rangers debacle that it appears that the 1st,2nd and 3rd divisions have been forgotten about, in fact The (new) Rangers should NOT have been immediately accepted into the 3rd div as they are a NEW club and should not be using the team name "Rangers"as that club is in the hands of the administrators there are other teams that have been waiting to get into the League and have been by passed
