Conservatives, do you defend the rich because you think they will give you some of their money?

    You have to understand hierarchical thinking.

    Here are the Good Guys:

    Father

    Minister/Priest

    Boss

    Husband

    CEO

    Here are the Bad Guys

    Daughter (probably wayward)

    Someone who doesn't go to church

    Someone who doesn't have a job

    Unmarried woman

    Someone who is a low-level employee (probably is a drug addict)

    State employees are all Bad Guys ever since unions and the progressive era, because the government wants an "egalitarian" society.

    They defend the rich because they see them as intrinsically the Good Guys, BECAUSE of their place on the (anti-Communist, anti-egalitarian) ladder.
