I like wood stove best with so many reasons, such as, a wonderful wood stove can be special decoration for my house, it is a symbol of memory, it makes me miss my childhood and past time,

the most important is that it is efficient and can generate much more heat than open fireplacces while less waste.

These reasons are why I choose wood stove, maybe you can try a wood stove in this winter, you will like it. If you are interested in wood stove, I want to share you a nice site, http://www.astove.co.uk,/ you will find many beautiful and efficient wood stoves there.

Do you mean heater or stove?

If stove, go for wood or gas if you have. Electrical units for heating are incredibly inefficient, waste energy, and worst of all, don't work if the power is out.

So depends on what you want it for and what types of utilities can be accessed from your own; lots of people can't get natural gas. Propane is nuisance.

Nothing like having one room piping hot with wood burning stove in winter. Especially when the electricity is out from storm and the burners and hot water heater aren't working.

Personally, I'm a fan of true wood burning stoves... They provide a great atmosphere for people to sit around and just gather when it's cold.

If you're set on an electric fire/stove, you might want to check out the link below... The top one is a pretty highly recommended electric stove which looks fairly good and provides a decent heat output.

if you mean a unit to heat the home I think you cannot beat a condensing boiler - Worcester seem to be the best. gas is more 'instant' than leccy which takes time to warm up.
