Dysmenorrhea? Yahoo is making me make this question too long.....?

I suffer from dysmenorrhea, throughout the years it has gotten better and I've tried countless things to make the pain bearable (by the way, dysmenorrhea is severe uterine cramping during menstruation) . I've changed my diet, exercised, increased water intake, put on weight, put off weight and what is strange is that nothing really has too much of a difference. Eating better I'd say was the only thing, but I don't eat that bad when I am not eating super healthy. I've gone to my doctor, she really didn't say much. I wanted to know what are things you do to help relieve pain, both naturally or with pharmaceuticals, or even exercises that might help. I'd like to know some things I can change in my life that might effect my periods for the better. I am not on birth control and really don't want to be. I'd rather change my life than swallow yet another pill...that I have no need for.

Right now I am using Ibuprofen, heating pad, peppermint tea and a couple aroma therapy blends. I usually get relief from Ibuprofen but I want to get my body in a place where it doesn't need pills. All natural things I guess is my goal. Thanks so much.

    I've been living with dysmenorrhea a whole life. It never gets better no matter what. On top of that I also have an easily irritable uterus (not exactly related to pregnancy but menstrual cramps/contractions frequency before/during menses).

    The PP is right-- there are new treatments available for this. Go to a different doctor if your last one wasn't that helpful. Dysmenorrhea is also often associated with endometriosis. Have you ever been checked out thoroughly to see if that is the case?

    Talk to your doctor. There are new treatments for this. It really is awful, and I hope that your doctor can help you.
