Dog heart disease research?

My dog passed away this morning from heart disease. It was very sudden, he changed on wednesday and we took him in thursday. They x-rays showed his heart filled between 2/3 and 3/4 of his chest, the vet said normal heart should be about 1/3 the chest. I was wondering if anyone knew of any research places for heart disease in dogs that I can donate to, thank you.

UPenn Vet school conducts studies on heart disease, and I believe U of Illinois is also conducting a study.

The AKC Canine Health Foundation provides grants to a ton of studies and research.

You can specify where you would like your donation to go ..i.e cardiovascular studies. Many of the grants are closed, but I did see one or two in the cardiovascular area that still needs funding. You can also donate via the Celebration Wall.

I am so sorry about your dog, oftentimes with cardiovascular issues, you don't know until it's too late. That happens in my breed with SAS. I know how difficult it is to lose a pet, and you have chosen a very noble way to honor him, it is a lovely tribute to your boy.

Take him to the vet. Nobody on right here can diagnose him. Coughing is usually a sign of heart ailment, however it may be brought about through different matters too. The type of cure he has is dependent upon the type of heart disease he has. One of my dogs had a heart assault at 11 & lived a full life for a further three years with medicine from the vet. Hope he is good enough. Edit: I count on you might be in the UK where heartworm is incredibly infrequent!
