Is 1 acre land good enough for personal shooting range?
I don't know how many Greta for 1 acre but I do know that you have to stay away from buildings, roads, schools within 500 feet. Only reason I want to buy land because my area has indoor ranges and they say no rapid firing and no pistol grip shotgun firing from hip.. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Im going to live in Pennsylvania insted Gerorgia because PA is closer to NY where my families live in there.

One acre could be about 100 yards long, or it could be 1,000 yards long. Acreage is a measure of area, and you can get the same area from different dimensions.
Remember back in elementary school? If you had a shape that was 2 squares by 2 squares, it had an area of 4 squares. If you had a shape that was 1 square by 4 squares, it had an area of 4 squares. You could, quite literally, have an acre of land that is only 4 feet wide and a little over ten thousand feet long. That would be two miles, which would be appropriate for shooting... except for that pesky 4 foot width.
Here's the deal. You don't like the rules at the range? Tough. The owners can make whatever rules they want, and rapid fire and firing from the hip are dangerous when you have an idiot who comes in and thinks he's Rambo.
One acre is not enough range for shooting, unless you build your own outdoor range, or unless there are miles of open space around that acre. It could cost several hundred dollars, though, to build your own range- you'll need a berm at least 6 feet tall, and as surprising as it sounds, dirt ain't cheap. A dumptruck load of dirt is often $100 or more, at least where I live. Then you'd have to pay someone to form the dirt, if it isn't in the shape you like.
Just go find a different range, if you don't like the ranges you've visited.

An acre is not enough. A square plot of land one acre in size is about 208 ft x 208 ft - no where near the 500 foot separation needed. Even if you got a narrow strip of land with the long side 500ft, you will not have a 500 foot distance on the flanks. If you are out in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors, that would not be a problem. But otherwise you will need at least 23 acres of land assuming a square plot and you set up the range in the middle.
I don't know what the price of land out in PA, but I'm pretty sure it will be pricey.

If it is 33' wide and 1320' long with a back stop at one end, and not within 500 ft of houses, sure. If it is 208' square, it might work for handgun if you can build a bullet stop and it is not within 500 ft of houses.

Concur with August.
Sure it's enough if it's in the perfect location with neighbors who don't mind but that's going to be a tough one to find in the real world.

1 acre is roughly 90 yards long. So if that is sufficient for the weapons your using, by all means go for it. I wouldn't say its ideal, however it could work as long as your not within city limits.
